A selection of engineering exhibits showing the latest technologies for the
safer decommissioning of machinery and plant.
Plasma Cutting Technology
Plasma cutting is a process used to cut steel and other metals using a
plasma torch. In this process, an inert gas is blown at high speed out of a
nozzle; at the same time an electrical arc is formed through that gas from
the nozzle to the surface being cut, turning some of that gas to plasma.
This plasma is sufficiently hot to melt the metal and moving sufficiently fast
to blow molten metal away from the cut. The result is very much like cutting
butter with a hot jet of air and when connected to a computer with CAD
files, creates the most accurate cutter available.
Airline suits
Airlines suits are a key requirement to ensuring the safety of operators in
contaminated and unclean environments. Learning to operate delicate
controls and highly dangerous cutting equipment is vital. T3|UK allows
operators to test the equipment, gain familiarisation and build up
experience of operating the required task in the suit, in a safe environment.
Containment Tent
Containment tents, secure the working area within a ventilated, controlled
environment, reducing overall exposure levels during work. The tents act
as a barrier restricting the cross-contamination from work being carried out
in decommissioning plant and buildings.
